How to Get to Siargao from Cebu: 2 Best Ways

Written by Celine Schneider|Updated: 2025-04-18

Need to get from Cebu to Siargao? Here's the truth: Flying is fastest, but ferries work if you have time. A direct 1-hour flight connects Cebu (Mactan Airport) to Siargao (Sayak Airport)—ideal for most travelers.

If you're on a budget or love slow travel, take a ferry from Cebu to Surigao City (5.5–10 hours), then a 1.5-hour boat to Siargao. No direct ferries exist, so plan extra time.

Both routes work well depending on your budget and schedule. Before you choose, check out our latest Cebu to Siargao transport tips, current prices, and schedule updates to make your island transfer as smooth as possible.

CEB-IAO 13-18 flights 55-70 min 57-120 USD Cebu Pacific, Cebgo, Philippine Airlines

Flying is your best choice from Cebu to Siagao. Here's why. Flights are fast. Like, only 55 min quick. You spend more time going to the airport than actually flying. There are 13-18 flights every day. You can choose from three airlines: Cebu Pacific, Cebgo, and Philippine Airlines.

Now, airlines. Here's the trade-off:

  • Cebu Pacific is cheap and has the most flights. But it's a budget airline—don't expect luxury. Their strict 7kg carry-on rule might cost you extra.
  • Cebgo, owned by Cebu Pacific, works the same way but uses smaller planes. If you hate bumpy rides, skip this.
  • Philippine Airlines (PAL) costs more but makes sense if you want comfort.

Cebu-Siargao Airports

Mactan-Cebu airport is on Mactan Island, not downtown Cebu. It's a 30–45 minute drive from the city center. Take a taxi (₱300–₱500) or use Grab (like Uber).

When you land in Siargao, you'll arrive at Sayak Airport (IAO) in Del Carmen. It is a small airport. It is a bit like a bus stop with palm trees. From there, it is a 45-60 minute drive to General Luna, the tourist center.

You can book a van to pick you up. This will cost 300 to 500 pesos. Or, if you want to be adventurous, you can rent a motorcycle. That will cost 400 pesos per day. But, be careful of potholes!
