Cebu Itinerary 1 Day: Explore Cebu City

Most travelers landing at Cebu Airport barely give the city a glance before dashing off to catch the next ferry to Bohol. But hold up, Cebu City’s got a few cool spots that are totally worth a quick stop!

Magellan's Cross, Cebu

Basilica Minore del Santo Nino, Cebu

If you’ve got a few hours to spare, here’s your mini-adventure through Cebu’s historic heart within half day:

  • Magellan’s Cross: This iconic cross, planted in 1521 by Portuguese and Spanish explorers, marks the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines.
  • Basilica Minore del Santo Niño: The oldest Roman Catholic church in the Philippines. Inside, you’ll find the Santo Niño statue, a gift from Ferdinand Magellan and a big deal for local devotees.
  • Fort San Pedro: Built in 1738, this Spanish-era fort is like a bite-sized version of Manila’s Intramuros. Think ancient cannons, stone walls, and a tiny museum for a quick history fix.

These three spots are super close to the ferry terminal, and you can breeze through all of them in about two hours. Plus, you’ll only need 10 minutes to hustle back before your ferry leaves—easy peasy!

Got More Time? Let’s Go Bigger!

  • Taoist Temple: Tucked in Cebu’s hills, this colorful temple is peaceful and offers epic city views.
  • Temple of Leah: Cebu’s version of the Taj Mahal. It’s Roman-inspired, dramatic, and makes you want to strike a pose.
  • Sirao Flower Garden ("Little Amsterdam"): It’s bright, it’s bold, and it’s a floral fantasy come to life.

Cebu Itinerary 2 Days:

Got 2 days in Cebu? Make it count! Whether you're here for the once-in-a-lifetime whale shark encounter in Oslob or the sardine run and canyoneering thrills in Moalboal, these two-day itineraries will have you covered.

Just keep in mind - both destinations are about 3-3.5 hours from Cebu City, so plan smart and get ready for some road-tripping!

Itinerary #1: Cebu City + Oslob - Swim with the Gentle Giants

Day Destinations Highlights
Day 1 Cebu City Magellan’s Cross, Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, and Fort San Pedro
Day 2 Cebu to Oslob Whale Shark Watching

First day is the arrival day! Touch down at Cebu Airport and dive right into the city’s best spots! Spend half a day checking out Magellan’s Cross, Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, and Fort San Pedro.

Pro tip: Stay overnight in Cebu City (not Mactan Island) for an easier early-morning escape to Oslob.

Second day is Oslob Whale Shark Adventure Day! Wake up early—like sunrise early—and hit the road for the 3.5-hour drive to Oslob. Once there, get ready for an unforgettable experience:

  • Hop on a traditional outrigger boat just 50 meters from shore and spot these massive, spotted gentle giants circling around.
  • Jump in! You can snorkel next to them, hold onto the boat for a closer look, or freedive into the blue for a magical encounter.
  • This is a rare opportunity—whale shark watching in Bohol is no longer available, so don’t miss out!

Itinerary #2: Cebu City + Moalboal - Sardines, Waterfalls & Thrills

Day Destinations Highlights
Day 1 Cebu City Magellan’s Cross, Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, and Fort San Pedro
Day 2 Cebu to Moalboal Moalboal Sardines Run, Kawasan Falls

First day is the arrival day! Same as above: land, explore, and get ready for a wild second day!

On the second day, head to Moalboal. Early morning departure (3-hour drive), then dive straight into the Sardine Run. It’s a swirling tornado of millions of sardines, just 10 meters from shore! Whether you're snorkeling, freediving, or scuba diving, this is one mind-blowing underwater spectacle you won’t forget.

Done with the sardines? Head 30 minutes to Kawasan Falls for the ultimate adventure:

  • Cliff jumping from natural rock formations.
  • Floating through turquoise-blue streams like something out of a fantasy movie.
  • A 2-hour canyoneering experience that’s an absolute MUST-DO in Cebu!

Finally, it’s time to drive another 3 hours to reture Cebu City!
