On a late autumn afternoon in 2024, an email from the UK suddenly popped up on my computer. The sender was James. He said he wanted to travel to Yunnan with his girlfriend Emily during Christmas. This trip had a special plan attached - he intended to propose to Emily during their travels.
In the email, James told me that Emily had always dreamed of visiting Lijiang Old Town and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. James hoped to create romantic memories in Emily's dream locations.
I immediately called James back. His voice on the other end of the phone was gentle but tinged with nervousness. I could feel how important this proposal was to him. "Emily always says she wants to make a wish at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain," he said, "and I want to propose there."

We talked for a long time, from Emily's preference for a quiet and romantic atmosphere to his vision of the proposal scene, and the pace of travel they were hoping for.
After hanging up, I fell into thought. Lijiang during Christmas is indeed beautiful, but it's also the peak tourist season, and hotels and flights are tight. But moved by the anticipation revealed in James's words, I was determined to help him fulfill this wish, no matter what it took.
A thrilling proposal operation began!
Well-Thought-Out Proposal Plan
Over the next few days, I spent almost all my time on this itinerary. I contacted hotels in Lijiang that I had been cooperating with for many years, asking if they had any suitable proposal venues. Most hotels said that venues were very tight during the peak season. It wasn't until the fourth day that a high-end hotel located at the foot of the Snow Mountain replied, saying they had a private outdoor dining area.
"The view from there is excellent," the hotel manager told me, "directly facing the main peak of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, especially beautiful in the evening." This was exactly what I wanted.

I immediately booked the venue and began to conceptualize the details for the proposal day: flowers, candlelight, music, and most importantly, a photographer skilled at capturing candid moments.
As the departure date approached, my communication with James became more frequent. He nervously inquired about every detail: would the weather affect the proposal? Would Emily like the arrangements?
I sent him the detailed itinerary and the specific proposal plan, reassuring him that although Lijiang's winter was cold, it was sunny. I had also prepared a backup plan. If the weather wasn't good that day, the hotel had a glass conservatory that could be used as the proposal venue.
Finally, the day they arrived in Yunnan came. Emily wore a simple white sweater, her hair casually tied in a ponytail, and her eyes couldn't hide her anticipation. James seemed a little nervous, constantly confirming the proposal details with me. I knew he was worried.
During the trip, I arranged for them to visit Lijiang Old Town, which Emily longed to see. Walking on Sifang Street, Emily was very excited, constantly recording every corner of the ancient town with her camera. "It's exactly as I imagined," she whispered to James, "even more beautiful."
Proposal Success Beneath the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain
The proposal day was perfectly timed after their visit to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Emily and James took the cable car to Spruce Meadow.
Along the way, the coniferous forest gradually turned into low shrubs. When the cable car passed the last ridge, the main peak of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, "Shanzidou," came into view. The sunlight shone on the snow-capped peak, reflecting tiny specks of silver light. Emily stood on the Snow Mountain viewing platform, gazing for a long time.
In the evening, they arrived at the prepared viewing platform.
When Emily saw the ground covered with rose petals, the flickering candlelight, and the silhouette of the snow-capped mountains in the distance, she covered her mouth in surprise. James knelt on one knee and spoke the vows he had prepared for a long time. I smiled as I looked at the happy photo they sent me.
After the trip, James sent me a long thank-you letter: "I can't express my gratitude to you in words. This trip not only made Emily's dream come true but also allowed me to fulfill my wish to give her a perfect proposal. From the itinerary design to the proposal planning, every detail was impeccable. Emily keeps saying this was the happiest trip of her life, and none of it would have been possible without your professionalism and dedication. Thank you for making our love story even more perfect!"
Emily also shared their travel photos on social media and wrote: "This trip to China is the most beautiful memory of my life. Thank you, James, for the surprise proposal, and thank you to our travel consultant for making everything so perfect. If you're also planning a special trip, be sure to look for her!"
Now, I still receive emails from James and Emily, sometimes holiday greetings, sometimes sharing their travel photos. This spring, they sent their wedding photos. Looking at their happy smiles in the photos, I know that this love story, which began with a travel inquiry, will continue to unfold.
