Just before the 2024 Chinese New Year, a large Romanian family of 30 kicked off a seven-day tour in Hong Kong. Their ages ranged from 5 to 70, and I immediately knew I'd have to juggle the needs of various age groups throughout the trip.

On the third day, things were going smoothly until I received some unsettling feedback about the accommodations.
A young mother, Ms. Li, who had a 3-year-old, was visibly upset and insisted on changing hotels immediately. She explained that the hotel's baby cot wasn't up to safety standards, and the room's air conditioning was too cold, making her worried about her child catching a chill.
I contacted her immediately, listened carefully to her concerns, and fully understood and supported her decision. To me, nothing is more important than a child's safety and comfort!
I immediately called the hotel manager, firmly requesting a safe baby cot and adjustments to the room's temperature. To ensure the best solution, I also provided alternative options at nearby four-star hotels. I told Ms. Li, "If you're still not comfortable, there are two other four-star hotels nearby. I can arrange a car to take you there, and we'll cover the costs."
That night, I kept checking in with Ms. Li to see how she and her child were doing, hoping they'd have a comfortable night.

Eventually, the hotel replaced the baby cot and fixed the air conditioning. Ms. Li was satisfied with the outcome and decided to stay. The rest of the family appreciated how I handled the situation, and they enjoyed the remainder of the trip together.
A Warm Call from Romania
"They didn't just fix a bed—they saved our cross-continental family bond. When my mother muttered 'I told you Asia was chaotic,' your team produced safety manuals thicker than her borscht recipe book!” – Ms. Li
After the tour, Ms. Li called Asia Odyssey Travel to express her gratitude. "I was impressed with Charles's professionalism and care," she said. "I'll definitely choose Asia Odyssey Travel again and recommend you to my friends." Her words of trust warmed my heart, reminding me that resolving issues is about building trust across languages and cultures.
This experience further motivates me to always put my clients first and address their unexpected needs.
Travel is full of surprises, and I've handled many situations, from rerouting 50+ guests when a Yangtze River cruise was suddenly canceled to arranging private Hakka Tulou stays and calligraphy workshops, and even managing dietary issues for a traveler with gluten allergies in Tibet, working with monks to make special tsampa (roasted barley) snacks.
Asia Odyssey Travel's well-planned itineraries and excellent service give me the confidence to handle any travel request.
It's not just about the itinerary. I also love sharing unique insider tips with my guests. It's one of my specialties! I enjoy introducing visitors to Chinese culture with them, like Cantonese "yum cha" dining etiquette.
I'm always thrilled when they enjoy these little surprises outside the itinerary. It was a real pleasure to meet this 30-member family during my work, making my career even more meaningful and fulfilling!

Day 1: Arrival in Hong Kong
They took a leisurely walk along the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, enjoyed the Victoria Harbour views, and took photos at the Avenue of Stars. That evening, they savored local dim sum.
Day 2: Hong Kong Island
On the second day, they traveled to Victoria Peak, the highest point on Hong Kong Island. Seniors in the family were given priority boarding. They took in the magnificent city skyline of Hong Kong.
The children had fun taking quirky photos at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong. With perfect weather, they enjoyed a relaxing bus tour of Hong Kong Island, reflecting on history at Central's colonial architecture (Former Legislative Council, St. John's Cathedral) and experiencing the incense-filled atmosphere of Man Mo Temple.
Day 3: Lantau Island
They took the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car for a bird's-eye view of Hong Kong's famous landmarks. Regardless of religious beliefs, they experienced Buddhist culture at the 34-meter-tall Tian Tan Buddha and Po Lin Monastery. They also visited Tai O Fishing Village, where the family was fascinated by the pink dolphins.
Day 4: Kowloon
Towards the end of their trip, they admired the Buddhist sanctuary with its brown exterior walls at the Chi Lin Nunnery and encountered classic Chinese gardens at Nan Lian Garden. To accommodate the seniors' requests, we arranged for early free time for souvenir shopping at Temple Street Night Market.
Day 5: Departure from Hong Kong
On their departure day, they independently went shopping at Harbour City.
