Day 1 Day 1 Hong Kong Classic Tour | Star Ferry, Victoria Peak, Repulse Bay, Stanley Market

Néih hóu! Hong Kong is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city with a unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures. It is a global financial center, a major tourist destination, and a foodie's heaven. Today, you will enjoy a half-day guided tour (09:00-13:30, about 4.5 hours) with us to explore the stunning city skyline, the beautiful Victoria Harbour, the traditional way of life, and the beach scenery.

Meet your guide at 08:50 in the hotel lobby to start your city exploration. Start with a 7-minute crossing on the Star Ferry, a local icon that has connected Kowloon and Hong Kong Island since 1888.

Head to the 552-meter Victoria Peak via the historic Peak Tram. This 130-year-old funicular climbs through lush woods, offering glimpses of hidden colonial buildings along the way.

Step onto Sky Terrace 428, the highest observation deck in the city. It provides a full 360-degree panorama of the harbour and the forest of skyscrapers below.

Drive south to Repulse Bay, one of Hong Kong’s most famous sandy beaches. Enjoy the sea breeze and the clear waters of the South China Sea before heading to nearby Stanley Market.

Explore the vibrant Stanley Market to find embroidered textiles, clothing, and unique souvenirs. Relax at a seaside café or pub before your guide escorts you back to the hotel around 13:30.

iFree exploration in Hong Kong in this afternoon:

You have the option to embark on your own exploration of Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple and Nan Lian Garden during the afternoon. These attractions offer a fascinating glimpse into the cultural and natural beauty of Hong Kong. Additionally, indulge in a memorable stroll along the renowned Avenue of Stars, where you can admire the awe-inspiring vistas of Victoria Harbor and Hong Kong Island adorned with its towering skyscrapers.

If your schedule allows, make sure to catch the mesmerizing "A Symphony of Lights" show at 20:00, an enchanting display that transforms the Hong Kong skyline into a captivating audio-visual extravaganza, truly a feast for the senses.

Day 2 Hong Kong Lantau Island Tour | Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car, Tian Tan Buddha, Po Lin Monastery, Tai O Fishing Village

After breakfast, your guide will meet you at your hotel for a 30-minute drive to Lantau Island. You will cross the Tsing Ma Bridge, which spans 2,160 meters. It is the world’s longest suspension bridge carrying both road and rail traffic.

From Tung Chung Station, you will take a sightseeing bus to Tai O, a historic village on the western coast. It is famous for its traditional fishing culture and unique stilt houses built above the water.

Enjoy a local boat tour to see these stilt houses up close and learn how they protect the community from flooding. This area is also famous for its resident pink dolphins, so keep an eye on the water during the ride.

In the village, you will see traditional fishing methods still in use today, such as shrimp paste production and net fishing. It is a rare glimpse into a lifestyle that has been preserved for generations.

Next, continue to the Po Lin Monastery. Founded in 1906 by three monks, this peaceful site is often called the "Buddhist Kingdom in the South." For lunch, you can enjoy traditional vegetarian food at the monastery restaurant (self-pay).

Afterward, challenge yourself to climb the 268 stairs to the base of the Tian Tan Buddha (Big Buddha). This bronze statue stands 34 meters tall and weighs 250 tons, offering a majestic view of the island.

Stroll through Ngong Ping Village, a cultural themed area with narrow streets and shops selling local handicrafts. It’s a great place to pick up unique souvenirs before your departure.

Finish your day with a ride on the Ngong Ping 360 cable car. This 25-minute, 5.7-kilometer journey offers a "flying" sensation with bird's-eye views of the South China Sea and the surrounding islands.

From your cabin, you can see the Big Buddha, the Hong Kong International Airport, and the Tsing Ma Bridge from a new perspective. It’s the perfect way to see the island’s scale before heading back.

iUseful Travel Tips:

Footwear: Wear comfortable walking shoes, as there is significant walking and stair climbing involved.

Supplies: Bring water and snacks for the day. While there are some shops, it’s best to have your own during the more active parts of the tour.

After the tour, your guide will escort you to the Hong Kong International Airport or back to your hotel. Thank you for choosing Asia Odyssey Travel (AOT)—we look forward to seeing you again in Asia!

Expert Advice and Ideas for Your China Trip

Frequently Asked Questions
It is my first time to China, how can I plan a China Tour?+

For a first-time visitor, the most popular and rewarding route covers China's past, present, and future. A standard 8 to 12-day itinerary usually includes:

  • Beijing (3-4 days): The historical heart. Must-sees: The Great Wall, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, and Summer Palace.
  • Xi'an (2-3 days): The ancient capital. Must-sees: The Terracotta Warriors, Muslim Quarter, and cycling on the Ancient City Wall.
  • Shanghai (2-3 days): The modern metropolis. Must-sees: The Bund, Yu Garden, and the futuristic skyline of Pudong.
  • Optional Add-ons (if you have 14+ days): Chengdu (Giant Pandas), Zhangjiajie (Avatar Mountains), Guilin/Yangshuo (Karst mountain landscapes) or Mount Everest Base Camp.
When is the best time to visit China?+

The universally agreed-upon best times to visit China are Spring (April to May) and Autumn (September to October).

1. Autumn (September to October) - The Absolute Best: The weather is generally perfect across the country. The summer heat and rains have passed, leaving clear skies, crisp air, and comfortable temperatures. This is the best time to hike the Great Wall, see the fall foliage in places like Jiuzhaigou, and enjoy outdoor activities in Yangshuo or Zhangjiajie.

2. Spring (April to May) - The Close Second: The weather warms up, and nature comes back to life. Temperatures are mild and pleasant. You can witness beautiful spring blossoms, such as peach blossoms in Guilin and cherry blossoms in various cities. It is a great time for cruising the Yangtze River or visiting the pandas in Chengdu.

3. Best Time for Specific Interests:

  • For Winter Magic (December to February): Head north to Harbin for the world-famous Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival.
  • For Tropical Escapes (November to March): Head to China's southernmost provinces, like Hainan Island or Xishuangbanna in Yunnan, to escape the winter chill.

Crucial Dates to Avoid:

Try your best to avoid traveling during China's major public holidays, when hundreds of millions of people travel domestically:

  • National Day Holiday ("Golden Week"): October 1st to October 7th. (Aim for mid-to-late October or September instead).
  • Labor Day Holiday: May 1st to May 5th.
  • Chinese New Year (Spring Festival): Usually falls in late January or February. While culturally fascinating, many shops and restaurants close, and transportation networks are pushed to their absolute limits.
