"New Email" - Late on the night of October 25th, my inbox was still active. A retired Singaporean, Mr. Tan Chong Ngee Anthony, sent an urgent request: "9-day in-depth Western Sichuan tour, focusing on Mount Siguniang, departing on November 3rd."
I glanced at the calendar, counted twice, and realized there were only 9 days until departure! Visas, itineraries, hotels, vehicles......and to make it even more challenging, this well-traveled client requested complete privacy and flexibility, accommodation in four-star hotels or above, and a route that avoided regular tour groups.

Western Sichuan in 9 Days: Rapid Tour Planning
November in Western Sichuan is already early winter, and the risk of icy roads cannot be underestimated. However, he insisted on experiencing the most authentic Tibetan culture, so I emphasized "safety" in bold red letters - it was paramount. After hanging up the phone, I immediately initiated the VIP service process, sending three itinerary options to his email within two hours.
The next seven days felt like a battle. I mobilized our team of Tibetan drivers with years of experience, who knew every high-altitude road and could handle unexpected situations, such as weather-related road closures. My computer screen rapidly switched between pages as I secured boutique hotels along the Danba Tibetan Village and Tagong Grassland routes, ensuring he was comfortable every night.
Sudden Desire to Hike Mt. Siguniang, Instantly Fulfilled
The most thrilling incident occurred at Mount Siguniang. As the morning mist was still clearing, Anthony stood on the hotel balcony, gazing at the snow-capped mountains bathed in golden morning light, and suddenly messaged me: "I want to hike, right now."
My heart skipped a beat. A senior citizen hiking at an altitude of 3,800 meters? Safety was paramount. I immediately contacted the hotel and within an hour, secured an experienced guide who arrived with a full set of equipment: navigation and communication devices, hiking poles, oxygen cylinders, first-aid kits, and even a thermos of yak butter tea.
Anthony started the easy hiking route in Changpinggou. He was initially struggling, but the guide paced him with a unique rhythm, walking for 20 minutes and resting for 5, while occasionally telling local legends of the sacred mountains.

From the moment they entered the scenic area, Anthony was constantly photographing the forests. The mountain mist flowed through the fir trees like milk, and the frost on the hiking trail crunched softly underfoot. His exhaled breath quickly disappeared into the crisp air above 3,300 meters.
Reaching the wilderness forest, Anthony was amazed by the scenery he had never seen before: sea buckthorn forests, naturally arranged red rocks, peaks shaped like camels and mushrooms, pristine alpine lakes reflecting the snow-capped mountains, leisurely grazing sheep and cows, and the snow-covered Mount Siguniang. Anthony was as excited as a child, asking the guide to take countless photos.
"This is the real Mount Siguniang!" On the way back, Anthony messaged me, "Tour buses never see views like this." The guide smiled and magically produced barley cakes and dried yak meat from his backpack, and they enjoyed a truly "Western Sichuan" lunch.
Road Closures? Hotel Changes? Rapid Adjustments
On the fourth day of the itinerary, the unexpected happened. There was a sudden traffic control closure ahead. This is common in November due to icy roads, but I wouldn't let our client waste time on the road.
Within 15 minutes, I adjusted the plan to bring forward some attractions, taking him to Xinduqiao to capture the golden autumn scenery while getting real-time road information.

They ultimately navigated through the closure during a brief window, and even added an unplanned visit to a Tibetan village along the way. Anthony had ample time to enjoy the last of Western Sichuan's autumn scenery in November.
"Can you help me switch to this hotel?" Halfway through the trip, Anthony suddenly asked. I immediately contacted colleagues and successfully arranged a room with a view for him, and also readjusted all subsequent accommodation.
Upon his return, I received an email from Anthony praising our me: "The improvisation was even better than the plan." Even more surprisingly, he included his family's contact information in the email, specifying that all his family's China trips should be arranged by me.
The best trips always happen outside the plan, and Asia Odyssey Travel can always use our quick response to help tourists realize their sudden desires. As you read this story, I am preparing the itinerary for Anthony's family, and I'm sure there will be more surprises on the road this time!
