Written by Celine Schneider|Updated: 2025-04-17

Coron's lagoons to chocolate hills in Bohol. Yes, it's possible! Though there are no direct flight and ferry. Here's the local way: A 1-hour flight from Coron to Cebu, followed by a breezy 2-hour boat ride to Bohol's Tagbilaran Port. Easy peasy!

If you're not keen on boats, you can also fly through Manila instead. We've done both routes many times and know what works best. Let's walk through your options, including the latest schedules and fares, so you can pick the way that suits you best.

Coron to Bohol is about 507 kilometers (315 miles) apart. Now, that might not sound like much, but here in the Philippines where we travel by islands and sea, it makes a big difference.

Since there's no direct route between these two popular spots, you'll actually travel a bit further than this straight-line distance.

You've basically got 3 options:

  • Fly to Cebu first (1.5 hours), then ferry to Bohol (2 hours), it's the best way.
  • Fly through Manila (extra time but more flight choices)
  • Take multiple ferries (long but scenic)

Here's a quick comparison of the two main ways you can get from Coron to Bohol:

Plan Route Travel Time Estimated Cost
Plan A: Coron to Cebu Flight + Cebu to Bohol Ferry Flight: Coron to Cebu, Ferry: Cebu to Bohol
Ferry: $8 – $12 (Cebu to Bohol)
4-5 hours Flight: $60 – $90 (Coron to Cebu)
Plan B: Connecting Flight to Bohol via Manila Flight: Coron to Manila, Flight: Manila to Bohol 5-6 hours $110 – $180 (Total for both flights)

Route Frequency Duration Prices Airlines
USU-CEB 8-10 flights 1.5 hrs USD 50-100 Cebu Pacific, Cebgo, Philippine Airlines, Hahn Air, Sunlight

Let's keep this simple. To get from Coron to Bohol, you first need to fly to Cebu. Cebu is the closest major hub to Bohol. Once you land, you'll need to take a ferry to Bohol—but let's focus on Step 1 first.

First, getting to the airport: Coron's Busuanga Airport (the one in Coron). It's about a 30-minute drive, and a van or tricycle will cost you around $5-8.

The good news is there are plenty of flights to choose from - usually 8-10 daily flights heading to Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB). So you can usually find a time that works.

Now, flights prices. Between $50 and $100 if you book early. And the flight itself is short—just 1.5 hours in the air from USU to Cebu (CEB). You've got options—Cebu Pacific, Cebgo, Philippine Airlines, and a couple others like Hahn Air and Sunlight.

Here's the thing: Cebu Pacific and Cebgo are usually the cheapest, but if you want a little more legroom and a strict baggage limits. Philippine Airlines is worth the extra bucks.

While there aren't any direct flights from Cebu to Bohol, the ferry service is fantastic - with 23-30 trips daily getting you there in about 2 hours. The fares are super budget-friendly at $6-26, and you won't have to stress about strict baggage limits like on planes.

7 companies run these routes: Oceanjet, Supercat, Sunriser Cordova, 2GO, Apekoptravel, Fastcat, and MYE Travel and Tours.

Oceanjet offers the most frequent trips with nice perks like air conditioning, restrooms, and TV for comfort. If you're watching your budget, Fastcat is your cheapest option with economy tickets at just $6.

Just remember to keep 25 pesos handy for the terminal fee when departing - it's a small extra cost but good to know about beforehand.

Ports Distance from airport Travel Time Features
Cebu Pier 12 km 30 min Best for most of travels
Cebu Pier 3 Terminal
Cordova RORO Port 14 km 40 min To Getafe Bohol
Quartel Beach Oslob Port 140 km 4 hrs From southern Cebu (Oslob's famous sardine run) to Momo Beach Panglao

After landing at Cebu Airport, you'll most likely head to either Cebu Pier or Pier 3 Terminal(just 800 meters apart). More than 80% of ferries to Bohol depart from these two piers. And they're the closest ports to the airport, just 12 kilometers away(30-min drive).

Another option is Cordova RORO Port right on Mactan Island where the airport is. Despite being on the same island, it takes about 40 minutes to cover the 14-km ride. From there the ferries heading to Getafe, Bohol.

For those wanting to combine their trip with Oslob's famous sardine run, Quartel Beach Oslob Port in southern Cebu might be your best choice, though it's quite far - about 140 kilometers from the airport.

Which Ports You Should Landing at Bohol

Bohol Tagbilaran Port
Bohol Tagbilaran Port
Bohol Tagbilaran Port
Bohol Tagbilaran Port

Now here's where it gets interesting - while Bohol has five ferry ports, Tagbilaran Pier handles about 65% of all arrivals. And it makes perfect sense - it's right in the capital city, closest to popular spots like Alona Beach and Panglao Island. Most hotels are either in Tagbilaran or just a short ride away, making it super convenient.

The other ports serve different areas:

  • Getafe & Ubay (up north - great if you're heading to Anda Beach)
  • Tubigon (northwest - closest to the Chocolate Hills)
  • Momo Beach (Panglao - perfect for resort guests)

But unless you've got specific plans in these areas, Tagbilaran is usually your best bet. It's the main hub with the most transport options when you arrive - tricycles and vans are always waiting to whisk you to your hotel.

Arrival Port 1: Tagbilaran Pier (Most Popular Route)

Bohol Alona Beach

Bohol Tagbilaran Port
Bohol Tagbilaran Port

Tagbilaran Pier is hands-down the smartest choice when traveling from Cebu to Bohol. Almost all ferries from Cebu Pier and Pier 3 Terminal dock here. About 17 daily trips with reliable 2-hour ride.

The pier's location is absolutely perfect since it sits right in Bohol's capital city. It's basically putting you right in the middle of everything you'll want to see and do in Bohol.

Only 20-30 minutes from the gorgeous Alona Beach and Panglao Island resorts. Getting around is super easy with plenty of taxis, tricycles, and hotel shuttles waiting right at the pier.

Arrival Port 2: Tubigon (Cheapest Way)

Chocolate Hills, Bohol

Tubigon Port sits on the northwest coast of Bohol - a smart choice if you're heading to the Chocolate Hills (45-min away) or northern beaches. It's actually closer to these attractions than Tagbilaran, saving you about an hour's travel time if that's your destination.

Only Fastcat operates this route (4 daily trips from Cebu Pier 3), known for being the cheapest option at around ₱400($6).

Arrival Port 3: Getafe (Fastest Route)

For Bohol travelers, this is the fastest route. The quickest ferry zips you to Bohol''s northernmost port in 75 minutes. And run 7 times daily from Cordova or Cebu Pier.

Perfect for escaping crowds! You'll discover Anda's pristine white beaches, uncrowded dive spots at Pangangan Island, untouched mangroves, and secret beaches that haven't hit the tourist radar yet.

But there's a catch: it's far from Bohol's classic sights like the Chocolate Hills and tarsier sanctuaries.

Arrival Port 4: Momo Beach Panglao (Direct to Panglao)

Here's an interesting option if you're staying in Panglao. Apekoptravel runs the only ferry that takes you straight to Momo Beach on Panglao's west coast. No need to transfer from Tagbilaran - you'll step off the boat just minutes from Alona Beach. Sounds perfect, right?

But there's a catch. This single daily ferry (1.5h, $19) leaves from Quartel Beach in Oslob - southern Cebu City (140 km away). Unless you're already visiting the whale sharks, getting there adds hours to your trip.

Arrival Port 5: Ubay Port

Ubay Port - it's way up in northeast Bohol, and honestly, most tourists never see this part of the island. The ferry with MYE Travel takes about 4 hours from Cebu Pier and costs $26, running just every other day.

While not the most popular route, it's close to raw gems like Can-umantad Falls (Bohol's tallest waterfall) and Candijay's limestone caves. Most travelers choose this port when planning to explore eastern Bohol's natural wonders or when island-hopping to Leyte.

Here's a different approach from Coron to Bohol, that might work for you - fly through Manila. Yes, it's a detour, but there aren't any direct flights between these islands.

First, grab one of the 8-10 daily flights from Coron's small airport to Manila (about 1 hour).

From Manila, hop on another 1.5-hour flight to Bohol's Panglao Airport(10-15 daily flights).

Just remember - leave at least 3 hours between flights in Manila. That airport can be chaotic. And check both Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines - sometimes one has much better timing than the other.
