There are moments in life when time seems to slow, when laughter lingers in the air and every glance holds a promise. For couples, a romantic vacation is more than just a break from routine - it's a chance to rediscover each other in new surroundings, to create memories that shimmer long after the journey ends.

Longji Rice Terrace - Ping'an

As a travel consultant at Asia Odyssey Travel, I have the privilege of meeting people from all corners of the globe. Among my many clients, there is a particular French couple whose story has left a deep impression on me - an impression not only of love and adventure, but of trust, connection, and the beauty of learning from those we serve.

An Unexpected Request: Taiwan Before the Mainland

It all began with a simple inquiry. The couple, let's call them Antoine and Camille, reached out to me to plan a grand 15-day journey through Mainland China. They were married for over 20 years, but there was a youthful spark in every message they sent. We exchanged emails about their interests - history, culture, food, and nature - and I crafted an itinerary that took them from the Great Wall in Beijing to the karst peaks of Guilin and the skyscrapers of Shanghai.

Just as we were finalizing the details, Antoine sent me a new message: "We are thinking of visiting Taiwan before coming to Mainland China. Can you help us design a trip there as well?" Of course, I was delighted. I quickly set to work, using all my experience and local contacts to curate a special 8-day tour across Taiwan just for them.

Taiwan Trip: An Overflow of Happiness

Throughout their Taiwan tour, Antoine and Camille sent me updates almost every day. But these were not the typical tourist photos of temples or night markets. Instead, my phone was flooded with radiant selfies and candid shots that captured their joy and affection: the two of them holding hands on the Rainbow Village's vibrant streets in Taichung, Antoine lifting Camille playfully on the sands of Kenting's beaches, their faces beaming in the mist at Sun Moon Lake. There were shots of them sharing bubble tea under the neon lights of Ximending, and even a spontaneous dance in a local park with cherry blossoms swirling around them. Sometimes, Antoine would add a cheeky caption in French, "C'est la vie!" or "Honeymoon part two!"

As a consultant, I have seen many couples travel, but rarely had I seen so much open happiness. It was as if their love was magnified by the beautiful island - every day was a celebration. Their photos filled my screen with "bubbles of happiness," as Camille once put it. I couldn't help but smile every time I checked my messages, their joy contagious even across thousands of kilometers.

Reunion in Chengdu: A Lesson in Love

A few months later, after their unforgettable Taiwan adventure, Antoine and Camille set off on the China Mainland leg of their journey. This time, our paths would finally cross in person. We arranged to meet in Chengdu, the city of pandas and spicy hotpot, where their itinerary included a few days to relax and explore.

When we met in the cozy lobby of their boutique hotel, I felt like I was greeting old friends rather than clients. Antoine greeted me with a warm French hug, while Camille's eyes sparkled with the same joy I'd seen in their photos. We quickly settled into a nearby teahouse, sipping jasmine tea while sharing stories.

Enjoy Tea at Renmin Park

It didn't take long before I asked the question that had been on my mind ever since their Taiwan trip: "What's your secret? How do you keep your relationship so fresh and full of love after so many years?" Antoine laughed and glanced at Camille, who squeezed his hand before answering. "The secret," she said, "is to never stop exploring together. Every new place, every new experience, is like hitting the refresh button on our marriage." Antoine chimed in, "And always remember to be each other's best friend, not just a spouse."

We talked about everything - work, life in France, their children who were already in university, and their dreams for future travels. Camille told me about her love for cooking, and Antoine shared stories from his days as a young backpacker. Our conversation flowed naturally, punctuated by laughter and the occasional philosophical musing about life and happiness. In those moments, I realized how much I learned from my clients, far beyond the logistics of travel.

Every Client, a Teacher

After Chengdu, Antoine and Camille continued their journey through China—Xi'an, Guilin, Shanghai - sending me regular updates and the occasional "wish you were here" message. As their consultant, I made sure every detail was perfect, from arranging a surprise anniversary cake at a Li River restaurant to booking a private calligraphy class in Xi'an. But the truth is, they gave me much more than I could ever give them.

Through their openness, their trust, and their zest for life, they reminded me that travel is not just about places - it's about people, relationships, and the way we connect with the world and with each other. They taught me that every client is, in a way, a teacher. From their stories, their attitudes, and their feedback, I grew more capable and more attuned to what truly matters in travel and in life.

Trust That Travels

The story doesn't end there. As the new year approached, I received another message from Antoine: "We're planning our honeymoon part three - this time in Vietnam. Would you help us again?" My heart swelled with gratitude. It is not just about business or repeat clients; it is about being entrusted with someone's precious memories, about becoming a part of their story.

Now, as I look back on the journeys we've shared, I am grateful for every lesson, every smile, every photo bursting with love. I am inspired to do even better, to improve my service, and to cherish every connection I make across continents and cultures. In this job, I don't just help people travel - I make friends from all over the world.

And as Antoine and Camille set off on yet another adventure, I know that somewhere in the world, a pair of French lovers is creating more bubbles of happiness - one journey, one photo, one moment at a time.
