Do I need to get a Tibet permit to visit Tibet? How long does it take to obtain?
To visit Tibet, all foreign travelers must obtain a Tibet Travel Permit through a registered travel agency in Tibet. This permits are required to enter Tibet and visit certain areas within the region, including Lhasa and Mount Everest Base Camp. The permit application process can take one to two weeks. Bookings should be made at least one week in advance, and two weeks in advance for Mount Kailash tours.
