Just got back from a 7 day Three Gorges Tour. It was a fantastic 7 days cruising the river on the Yangtze Gold 6 ship what a beauty. The people are friendly, helpful and informative. Yangtze Gold 6 River Cruise

We travelled from Yinchang to Chongqing on the Yangtze Gold 6 on a 5 day, 4 night cruise but in reality was 3 full days. I was pleasantly surprised – the atrium area is impressive, common areas comfortable, and our room which we had upgraded was nicely appointed with a balcony. We upgraded to the VIP dining room. The food was reasonable. There was always a good selection of food on the buffet, albeit not always hot and a bit canteen ish. However, on our last night we were put on a table with about 8 or 10 others and had the most amazing meal which was served to us at the table. There was a huge variety of freshly prepared dishes which were beautifully presented. The drinks packages were reasonably priced and good. The staff were friendly, albeit many did not speak English. There were one or two tours every day, one of which was included in the cost. All tours had an English tour guide and the scenery along the cruise was super.

Yangtze Gold 6 - Yichang to Chongqing

There have been several mixed reviews of this cruise so we were uncertain as to what to expect. We need not have worried as we had a great experience and would recommend the trip on the Yangtze Gold 6. We were pleasantly surprised by the cabin - larger than the “stateroom” cabins on most ocean cruise ships and with a balcony. Floor to ceiling windows give a good view. Two double beds were comfortable. TV reception seemed fine. The bathroom is adequate, with quite a large shower. When you board, there is pressure to upgrade to Deck 5 but it is not worth the cost. The only significant difference is a smaller dining room with table service, possibly good as meal times are a mad scramble for food. Drinks are limited to Sprite, Coke but you can ask for iced water. Other facilities consist of a small gym and spa, a cinema, billiards and Mah-jong rooms, large bar and entertainment room and a small outdoor swimming pool.
