Departure Station 1: Chengdu East Railway Station

Chengdu East Railway Station is one of the largest railway passenger stations in Southwest China and serves as a major transportation hub for passengers traveling from Chengdu to Mount Emei. It is located at 333 Qionglai Shan Road, Baohe Street, Chenghua District, Chengdu, Sichuan Province. You can reach the station by taking Metro Line 7 or Line 2, or by taxi. Approximately 17 high-speed trains depart daily from Chengdu East Station to Mount Emei, with a journey time of less than 1.5 hours.

Departure Station 2: Chengdu South Railway Station

Chengdu South Railway Station is another significant railway passenger station in Chengdu. Its address is No. 2 Tianren North Street, Wuhou District, Chengdu, Sichuan Province. You can access the station via Chengdu Metro Line 1, Line 7, or Line 18, or by taxi. Approximately 9 high-speed trains depart daily from Chengdu South Station to Mount Emei, with a journey time of around 1.3 hours.

Ticket Price and How to Pick Seat from Chengdu to Mount Emei

Arrival Station: Emeishan Railway Station

There are two train stations in Emei Mountain:

Emeishan High-Speed Railway Station is about 5-6 kilometers from the Mount Emei Scenic Area.
Emei Railway Station is about 13 kilometers from the Mount Emei Scenic Area but closer to the city center at about 3.5 kilometers.

Get to Mount Emei from Emeishan Railway Station

Upon arriving at Emeishan High-Speed Railway Station, you have two transportation options to reach Mount Emei: bus or taxi. Buses offer a more budget-friendly choice, but if you encounter situations like overcrowding or excessive waiting times, opting for a taxi might be more convenient.

Take Bus to Mount Emei: To access the Mount Emei Scenic Area, depart from the front square of Emeishan High-Speed Rail Station and board Bus No. 8. This route will take you directly to Tianxia Mingshan Archway, the entrance to the scenic area. The journey takes about 10 to 15 minutes. The fare is $0.14 per person.

Take A Taxi to Mount Emei: You can take a taxi directly to Baoguo Temple. The bus ride is approximately 6 kilometers and the fare is less than $1.40.

Chengdu to Mount Emei Bus

There are three main bus routes from Chengdu to Mount Emei: Xinnanmen Bus Station (新南门汽车站), Chengdu East Bus Station (成都东站), and North Gate Bus Station (成都北门汽车站). For the cheapest tickets and most frequent departures, choose Xinnanmen Bus Station. For buses with more spacious seats, consider Chengdu East Bus Station or North Gate Bus Station.

Journey duration: Expect a travel time of approximately 2.5 hours when taking a bus from Chengdu to Mount Emei, regardless of the departure station.

Chengdu East Bus Station and North Gate Bus Station offer slightly higher fares at $11.23 and $10.53, respectively.

Vehicle differences: Buses departing from Xinnanmen Bus Station are typically medium-sized with seating capacities ranging from 20 to 60 passengers. The seat spacing on these buses may be relatively narrow. In contrast, Chengdu East Bus Station and North Gate Bus Station primarily use business-class buses with smaller capacities of 10 to 30 seats and more spacious seating arrangements.

Xinnanmen Bus Station:

Buses to Mount Emei depart from Xinnanmen Bus Station as early as 7:40 AM and as late as 6:40 PM. Morning departures are generally every hour starting at 8:30 AM, while afternoon departures may have slightly longer intervals between them.

Chengdu East Bus Station:

Buses to Mount Emei depart from the Chengdu East Bus Station as early as 7:00 AM and as late as 6:00 PM. The frequency of departures is approximately every 2-3 hours.

Beimen Bus Station:

Buses to Mount Emei depart from Beimen Bus Station as early as 7:00 AM and as late as 6:00 PM. The frequency of departures is approximately every 2-4 hours.
